How Kate Hudson’s Fabletics is succeeding despite Amazon

In the world of fashion e-commerce, it is hard to discuss anything without a mention of Amazon. Today, Amazon controls about 20% of the market. That is why it is so surprising the Kate Hudson’s Fabletcis has grown to $250 million in just three years.

Fabletics is a company that focuses mainly on the activewear movement. It utilizes a subscription mechanism to make sales. The model of business is quite simple. They simply mix a membership model with convenience for customers. This has proven to be a successful model of business.

In the past, high-end brands have usually been defined by the quality and price of their products. However, recent economic upsets have meant that people are looking for bargains more than ever before. Now customers are increasingly looking for things such as last mile service, brand recognition, and customer experience.

What the GM has to Say

According to the GM of Fabletics, the company is simply re-imagining what it means to be a high-value brand. When combined with low prices, this has allowed Fabletics to soar in sales. Besides being able to understand what people want, has played a big role in the success of Fabletics.

How Kate Hudson Went From Almost Famous to Ultimate Success with Fabletics

Recently, Kate Hudson was spotted at a red carpet event. However, this event was not promoting any new TV show; it was promoting how successful Fableitcs has become. The event was also the launch of a collaboration between the clothes company and a pop singer, Demi Lovato.

In just three short years since Fabletics was launched, Kate Hudson and the team at Fabletcis have turned it into a company worth $250 million. This was especially impressive since Kate Hudson had no known business background.

When the founders of Fashion Group first decided to launch an athleisure brand, there was no brand out there, which offered what they envisioned. They wanted to change the market and provide it with something stylish yet affordable.

The first person they thought of approaching with this idea was Kate Hudson. They liked how approachable she was, and that she was a person who did not take herself too seriously. To them, she personified everything they envisioned their brand to be. From the first day the brand was launched, Kate was quite involved. She continues to play an important part in the process of designing the outfits. However, do not expect Kate Hudson to quit her acting job because of the success at Fabletics. She insists that she is still an actor although she is proud of her business success.

The Key to Success With Dr. Mark McKenna

The key to success is a balancing act between innovation, working hard and taking the time to self-reflect, at least according to Dr. Mark McKenna. The New Orleans native started his ambitious career early, taking on two entirely different fields at once, successfully. After graduating with a medical degree from Tulane University Medical School, he started practicing medicine with his father as well as launching a real estate development firm, McKenna Venture Investments at the same time. Over the years, he would launch and acquire several more real estate firms that offered financing, turnkey design-build, and real estate closing assistance. Unfortunately, in 2005, hurricane Katrina hit, taking many of McKenna’s business interest down with it.

A couple of years later, Dr. Mark McKenna moved to Atlanta, GA and made a return to medicine, founding ShapeMed, a wellness, and aesthetic based medical practice. This successful venture would later be sold to Life Time Fitness Inc. in 2014, where he remained as National Medical Director until 2016. His years here inspired him to then launch OVME, a medical aesthetics company, a technology-focused elective healthcare firm. His expertise in the discipline allowed McKenna to notice areas where he could change the industry, offering a chance to reinvent the field.

This, combined with a full family life with his wife and young daughter and personal hobbies such as JuJitsu keep McKenna consistently busy, but he still takes the time he can to meditate and reflect. This, he believes, keeps him focused. As he remarked, “I regularly set goals and practice visualization. I also like to meditate in a quiet place at least once a day. I have found the combination of meditation and active goal setting is a recipe for success.” As an avid believer in the power of visualization, McKenna recommends any up and coming entrepreneur read Napoleon Hill’s book “Think and Grow Rich”. With his successes, maybe he’s onto something and more

What the Osteo Relief Institute Does for Residents of New Jersey with Osteoarthritis (OA)

Approximately one-fifth – that’s twenty percent – of United States citizens are disabled, by far the most popular cause being arthritis. Applying simple mathematical functions, of the 320-odd million people in the United States, about 60 million people experience troubles living on a daily basis, mostly due to joint pain and discomfort.

Osteoarthritis is a common form of arthritis that typically manifests itself in elderly persons. Shortened by many to OA – often called degenerative joint disease – this disease is characterized by a weakening and wearing-out of tissues in joints, causing a scraping sensation that ultimately results in constant discomfort, regular pain, and a lack of full mobility and range of motion.

Those that are overweight, obese, have family members with OA, of old age, and have experienced bone or joint injury in the past are especially exposed to the condition (AliveNewspaper). While there are no cures for OA, there are several ways to mitigate pain felt from the condition.

No matter how immobile someone is, they should exercise on a daily basis. Don’t try to take on too many tasks or reps at first, as stressing one’s bones or joints could result in worse problems. People with OA should stop smoking and do their best to lose weight. Staying still for over thirty minutes causes joints to mold together slightly, causing further pain – this means sufferers should move around just a little bit, at a minimum, twice every waking hour.

Osteo Relief Institute is a chain of medical facilities throughout the Garden State that helps treat osteoarthritis ( Their team of therapists and doctors are trained in dealing with OA and other bone and joint problems, one of many positive characteristics of Osteo Relief Institute.

Founded in San Diego, California, Osteo Relief Institute is privy to the market’s latest information on osteoarthritis and how to treat it. Staff at Osteo Relief Institute always tell patients of what’s wrong with them in easy-to-understand terms, rather than wooing them with complex information. Best of all, Osteo Relief Institute itself and its staff members are all board certified, utilizing nothing other than treatments and methodologies approved by the United States FDA.

Imagine An America Where Black Lives Matter

The “Black Lives Matter Network” was created in 2012. The organization began after a young black man named Trayvon Martin was killed by Police Officer George Zimmerman. Zimmerman was acquitted of this crime, even though Martin was unarmed. The outrage of the outcome of the trial sparked a revolution and the Black Lives Matter Network was created.

The Black Lives Matter Network is not just about Trayvon Martin. It is about how the country has systematically kept their foot on the neck of all minorities for more than a hundred years. It started off, of course, with slavery.

At that time African Americans were considered property, free labor and inhuman. Then the 13th amendment was put into place. This amendment abolished slavery, but there was a clause in the amendment that made sure that slavery would continue. Read more; Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund

The 13th amendment states “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.” This “exception” was the cause of African Americans being on a surge of harassment by the police. They were arrested for very minor crimes and placed in jail for very long periods of time. Read more: Michael Lacey | LinkedIn

There are more than 7 million African Americans incarcerated (which outnumbers the amount of slaves before the 13th amendment) who are subject to this “slavery or involuntary servitude”. According to The Daily News,, a 2 billion dollar industry employs 900,000 inmates to work for them.

According to Prison Policy Initiative,, the average wage for a nonprison job is 86 cents a day. If an inmate worked 365 days in a year, their yearly wage would be $313.90. The Black Lives Matter Network is about a century of oppression. There is housing discrimination, loan interest discrimination, and even educational discrimination.

According to the Huffington Post,, whites held 88% of the wealth in the United States. With all that being said, Trayvon Martin was the spark, but not the fuel. To learn more about the Black Lives Matter Network Movement you can visit

The Lacy and Larkin Frontera Fund recognizes this disparity in treatment between blacks and whites as well. Lacy and Larkin work with a much broader scope. They agree that black lives matter, but they are also working to combat other forms of discrimination.

Whether it is discrimination against Blacks, Latinos, immigrants, Native Americans or any other group, they want to take measures to help stop this type of egregious behavior. Lacy and Larkins website,, is always up to date and current. To know about things that are going on right now and what you can to do help eradicate all forms of discrimination, visit their site.

Racism is not just an act that is out in the open and easily recognized. It is systematic and many times behind the scenes. It is sometimes meant to make things look like they are getting better on the surface so that minorities feel like a change is happening. Most of the time this is the case. Racism isn’t going away, it’s just being reinvented.

Canadian craft beer, the orthodox

The craft beer Industry in Canada continues to demonstrate exponential growth in the adult beverage arena. Populate cities like Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa provide fruitful nightlife (and sometimes daytime) breeding grounds for the alcohol beverage business and are a perfect platform for the diverse craft beer industry. As recent as 2015, craft beer accounted for nearly 10% of the Canadian beer market. The microbrew operations have grown almost 8-fold from 2006-2017.

Forgive the stereotype, but millennials like good, craft beer, plain and simple. Supply and demand is the name of the game for the modern day microbrewers as craft beer have migrated from the hipster, inconspicuous drink of choice to the orthodox. No one knows this better than Eli Gershkovitch, the CEO of Steamworks, who said: “you grow to meet demand, or demand will shrink to meet you”.

Eli Gershkovitch knows what innovation means to the multi-billion dollar adult beverage industry (TheNewsVersion). Adapt or die. He drives the strategies and leads the initiatives to deliver the three pillars of success for almost any industry; quality, price, and quantity. Easier said than done when you are expected to deliver a high-quality beer that leaves you with the feeling each hop was manufactured for that single bottle or draft. Perhaps that’s what drove the success of Steamworks in the 2017 U.S. Open Beer Championship. Talk about putting Canada on the map when it comes to craft brews! From Vancouver to the U.S., Gershkovitch knows what it takes to satisfy the thirsty beer drinkers of the international markets.

Eli Gershkovitch is not willing to sacrifice his vision for additional margins. It doesn’t happen all that often that an owner/CEO decides holding onto to all the company equity is more important than lining his/her pocket while diluting share. Simply put, high-quality beer is king and he knows it.

Dr. Mark Holterman and ADA Collaborates to Curb the Rise of Diabetes Cases

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) announced a collaboration deal with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles that will see the two organizations jointly seek ways of countering the increase in diabetes amongst young people. The deal that was announced early September this year would involve some of the most experienced pediatricians including Dr. Mark Holterman of the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine. Mark has been on the forefront in the attempt to get more effective and improved medicine for treating type 2 diabetes as well as other chronic diseases.

According to the organizers, the collaboration will come up with a program dubbed Camp Power Up ( The program will bring together knowledge and evidence around type 2 diabetes, and then use it to formulate a curriculum that kids between the age of 8 and 16 can use to keep diabetes away. The curriculum will give an elaborate description of the foods kids of this age should avoid as well as the physical exercises that they should engage in to be safe. Dr. Mark Holterman realizes that teenagers are vulnerable to this type of diabetes due to their peculiar eating habits.

Mental Health Provider Diabetes Education Program

Besides the Camp Power Up, ADA organizes and takes part in other programs that seek to curb the rising cases of diabetes. Mental Health Provider Diabetes Education Program is one of the other programs that the organization sponsors, where Dr. Mark Holterman and his colleagues help people to fight diabetes. The program is a collaborative venture between ADA and the American Psychological Association and has been funded by the Helmsley Charitable Trust. Mark and colleagues look into ways that they can help people to navigate the diabetes management process by shouldering some of their psychosocial challenges. They achieve this by holding a face-to-face interactive session with patients for a 7-hour duration and following that up with an online course that takes not less than 5 hours.

About Dr. Holterman

Dr. Mark Holterman is among the great pediatric surgeons in America. He studied at the University of Virginia and graduated with a Ph.D. in Medicine and Immunology. He applies his knowledge in teaching at the University of Illinois.
